Hello and welcome to Good Spray. I’m Lauren Abernathy, the coach and writer behind this site. In 2018, I started this blog to provide practical, digestible information to other weekend warriors to help improve their climbing. Since then, the blog has evolved into my own climbing coaching business. In 2020, Good Spray was launched and I am thrilled to have you here.
A Bit About Me
I have been climbing for six years, picking up this sport in my college climbing gym. About two years in, I became frustrated with my slow progress. That is when I discovered the world of training.
Since starting to train I have taken my hardest redpoint from 5.10 to 5.12b, climbing a dozen 5.12s in multiple locales across the United States. Along with my climbing ability, my passion for exercise science increased as well. In May 2020, I earned my Personal Trainer Certification through NASM, and epened up my coaching business where I help climbers train to crush their outdoor objectives.
My own outdoor climbing started in the Red River Gorge, which continues to be one of my favorite places to climb. Since my neophyte days, I have spent two seasons in Rumney, New Hampshire, and I get out to Wyoming in the summertime when I have the chance.
Personally, I climb to find out exactly what I am capable of. The joy of a hard-fought send is unmatchable. Inspired by this, it is my mission to help as many people as I can feel emboldened and empowered to climb as hard as they can.
If you seriously want to get better at climbing, you have little time to waste. Why would you leave your improvement up to chance? Saddle up, it’s time to get training.
